The Shelter’s March for Cold is rapidly approaching!
This year has been a unique one for all of us. As the pandemic caused widespread closure of businesses and facilities this winter around the Town of Strathmore, our resources were stretched as we stepped up to provide a warm place to go for those in need. We began opening the shelter 24 hours a day, which required extra staff and of course increased our other costs.
This fundraiser is an important contributor to our yearly budget, and we are so grateful for the generous support we have received in the past.
We are hoping for the same kind of support this year, even though things will look a little different.
We will be hosting a virtual Cold Walk challenge the week of March 13th-20th. You can participate by walking / running for 2-5km anywhere or anytime during that week. We invite you to post your photos on your favorite Social Media platform with #strathmoremarchforcold. If you would like them posted on our website or Facebook page, email them to carrilyn_f@hotmail.com. Once completed the forms and the donations can be submitted electronically to hccgiving@gmail.com, via regular mail to 102 Canal Garden, Strathmore Alberta T1P0C4 Attn: Elizabeth Karp or they can be dropped off at the March for Cold live event at Kinsmen Park March 20, 2021 between 5 – 6pm.
Additionally for those of you who would like to come out in person, we will be holding the March for Cold live event at Kinsmen Park on the 20th of March beginning at 5pm. Due to Covid19 restrictions, there will be no opening ceremonies this year, and we will be doing a staggered registration and start for participants. You will be allowed to walk with members of your family (or cohort if you are single) only. Completed registration and waiver forms for those participating in the live Event, can be emailed to Carrilyn_f@hotmail.com, should you not have access to email please call Carrilyn @ 403-361-4033 for you to be registered. Your assigned time slot to begin your walk will then be provided to you. Twice (2) around Kinsmen Park is approximately 2km. The registration table and starting point will be in the parking lot for the new Town office.
